Hazel Ketchum returns to Columbia Baroque for this extravaganza concert of music by Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Schmelzer, and introducing a recently discovered Fantasia for solo gamba by Telemann. Improvvisato! refers to Italian-style ornamentation where performers improvise flourishes and embellishments that add beauty and personal expression to the music.

Columbia Baroque is a professional chamber ensemble in Columbia, SC comprised of leading Baroque music specialists from South Carolina and North Carolina, each with distinguished careers as chamber musicians, soloists and educators. Ensemble members include Jean Hein, Baroque recorder; Mary Hostetler Hoyt, Baroque violin; Erika Cutler, Baroque violin; Brittnee Siemon, mezzo-soprano; Gail Ann Schroeder, viola da gamba; and Jerry Curry, harpsichord.

Our mission is: Bringing Baroque music to life for the modern audience through education and historically inspired performance
